It was about this time that I was frantically completing college applications. Why, I could probably write, oh, say, 83 pages just about what happened between the time I began my applications up until the time I was approached by Random House to write this autobiography.
The application process was tedious at best, but one particular question struck me. One college--I forget which--asked me to submit page 217 of my 300 page autobiography. Reflecting now, it seems especially prophetic. I preserved a copy of my response. I will reproduce it here, unabridged.
